History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
It was widely expected that the 2024 Colorado Rockies would be in for a tough season, given the team's performance in recent seasons, its lack of activity on the transactions market in the off-season, and the fact that while it had a few promising players on its rosters, they were mostly first and second-year players who were still learning the major league game. Therefore it was not much of a surprise that the team started the year off slowly as they went 1-3 in March and 6-19 in April. In fact, they trailed at one point in all 31 of the games they had played until May 2nd, something for which no precedent could be found in baseball history. The streak ended on May 3rd when they broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the 6th inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and held on for a 3-2 win. Their record of 8-24 after the win still constituted the worst start in franchise history. That included having been swept in the two games in which they played the Houston Astros in Mexico City on April 27th and 28th.
