History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 2013 Colorado Rockies got off to a surprisingly good start, after playing wretchedly in 2012 and not making many significant changes coming into the season, apart from naming former player Walt Weiss as their new manager, replacing Jim Tracy who had resigned following the very difficult season. After 18 games on April 22nd, the Rockies' record stood at 13-5, tying them with the Atlanta Braves for best in the National League. That lofty status did not last long, as they were swept by the Braves in a doubleheader on April 23rd; the first of the two games at Coors Field began with the temperature at a frigid 23 degrees, the coldest reading ever for a game in Denver, CO; the conditions improved a bit during the day, as temperatures reached 30 degrees by the second game.
