History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 2013 Oakland Athletics had a roller coaster beginning to their season: they lost their first two games of the season, but then went on a tear, winning the next nine while outscoring their opponents, 69-27. They had the best record in the American League at that early point. Shortly afterwards, however, they lost 8 of 9 from April 19-27, and continued to sputter, eventually ending up two games below .500 on May 15th, by which point they had fallen 7 games off the pace in the AL West. Another hot streak then began, as they won 14 of 16 from May 17-June 2, improving their record to 34-24, putting them only two games behind the Texas Rangers.
