Biographical Information[edit]
Curt Young was signed by the Oakland Athletics and scout Frank Franchi as a 4th round pick in the 1981 amateur draft.
Young was the pitching coach for the AZL A's in 1996-1998, Visalia Oaks in 1999, Midland RockHounds in 2000-2002, and the Sacramento River Cats in 2003. Young was the Athletics' major league pitching coach from 2004 to 2010. In 2011, he moved to the Boston Red Sox. He went back to the Athletics in 2012, staying there until being fired in mid-season in 2017. He was the pitching coach of the San Francisco Giants in 2018 and 2019.
Young was on Team USA in the 1980 Amateur World Series.
