Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brenton Doyle was the batting champion of the Pioneer League in 2019 when he hit .383 in 51 games for the Grand Junction Rockies after being selected in the 4th round of the 2019 amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies out of Shepherd University. It was the last season as an affiliated minor league for the Pioneer League, as it became a summer collegiate league following the 2021 Minor League Reorganization.

He reached the major leagues with the Rockies at the start of the 2023 season and ended up being the team's regular centerfielder that year, hitting .203 in 126 games with 10 homers and 48 RBIs. His OPS+ was just 53, but he was outstanding on defense, both with his glove and the strength of his throwing arm, and he won a Gold Glove as the National League's best defensive centerfielder. In 2024, he was a better offensive player, but it was still a huge surprise when he was named the NL Player of the Month for July. During that month, he bounced back from posting an OPS of just .543 in June by hitting 11 homers and 17 extra-base hits, more than anyone in the circuit while batting .333 and driving in 27 runs. From July 1-6, he opened the month with a five-game stretch in which he collected 8 extra-base hits and 27 total bases.
