Team History[edit]

The Tigres del Licey are the most successful team in the history of the Dominican League and arguably the greatest winter league team ever. Through 2024, they had won 24 pennants, two more than the Águilas Cibaeñas; other than the Águilas Cibaeñas, all the other teams in the history of the league combined had fewer titles than the Licey squad. They have won eleven Caribbean Series, the latest coming in 2023, more than all the champions from either the Cuban Winter League, Venezuelan Winter League or Mexican Pacific League and the most in Series history.

Founded in 1907, years before the Dominican League existed, the club is based out of Santo Domingo. Bob Gibson, Tony Oliva, Mark McGwire, Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero and David Ortiz are among the most famous players to appear on the Tigers' roster over the years.
