Manuel Henríquez

Biographical Information[edit]
Manuel Henríquez was a catcher in the early days of Dominican baseball, starting with San Carlos in 1914. He later was a prominent coach, helping guide the Licey Tigers to the first Dominican League title in 1951. He coached for the Dominican national team in the 1954 Central American and Caribbean Games (Bronze Medal) and 1955 Pan American Games (Gold Medal, their only Pan American Games baseball Gold through 2016). He managed the Dominican team that won the 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games, the first time the Dominicans had won the Gold in baseball in a Central American and Caribbean Games. In 1971, he was inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame.
