Latino Baseball Hall of Fame

From BR Bullpen

The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame - in Spanish Salón de la Fama del Béisbol Latino - was inaugurated in the city of La Romana in the Dominican Republic in 2010. It is designed to honor the contribution of Latin American players to the game of baseball and to honor the greats who have been part of this rich history. 24 inductees were part of the inaugural class, divided into three groups:

The first induction ceremonies were held in La Romana from May 23-30, 2010.

The Hall of Fame also gives out the "Tommy Lasorda Award", dedicated to a non-Latin personality who has worked to promote the development of baseball in Latin America. The first award was given to Peter O'Malley, former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, in 2010.

Many of the individuals selected for the first class had already been enshrined in the Hall of Fame, the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame, the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame, the Puerto Rican Baseball Hall of Fame, the Salón de la Fama (Mexico) or the Salón de la Fama (Venezuela).
