Team History[edit]

The Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League were an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox from 2001 to 2019. They played their home games at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Intimidators won the 2005 league championship.

The club was previously called the Piedmont Boll Weevils. After the 2000 season, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt (nicknamed "The Intimidator") became a part owner of the club, and in 2001 the team was renamed the Intimidators in his honor, just before his untimely death in a crash at the Daytona 500 that spring.

After the 2019 season the team re-branded itself as the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers [1].
