Biographical Information[edit]
IF/OF Justin Jirschele, the son of Mike Jirschele and brother of Jeremy Jirschele, was signed as a free agent by Chicago White Sox scout Nick Capra in 2012. He played in their farm system until 2015. After playing very sparingly at three different levels in 2015 he was released in early May.
Almost immediately Jirschele was hired to be the hitting coach of the Great Falls Voyagers that same summer. He was hitting coach of the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2016 then became a manager with Kannapolis in 2017. At the time, Jirschele was the youngest manager in minor league baseball. He was scheduled to be the manager of the Birmingham Barons in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
After the 2022 season he managed the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League. He was named manager of the Charlotte Knights in 2023. He returned to Charlotte in 2024 while also serving as the organization's minor league assistant field coordinator. The season turned topsy turvy on August 8, 2024 when Chicago White Sox manager Pedro Grifol and three of his coaches were dismissed and Jirschele was named the Sox third base coach for the remainder of the season.
