Biographical Information

The son of Mike Jirschele, brother of Justin Jirschele and grandson of a college football player and high school basketball coach, Jeremy Jirschele was a three-sport star in high school. In college, he set one Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference records. Jeremy debuted as a freshman in 2002, then hit .373 as a sophomore. In '04, the 21-year-old infielder batted .401 and followed with a .438/.520/.698 year while moving from shortstop to second base. Overall, as of June 2006, he was second all-time in the WIAC in hits (253) and first in doubles (53).

Jeremy was picked in the 30th round of the 2005 amateur draft by his father's long-time organization, the Kansas City Royals. He was assigned to the Idaho Falls Chukars and hit .189/.290/.189 in 16 games, mostly at third base. In '06, he hit .194/.304/.232 in 84 games with the Burlington Bees and .211/.348/.263 in eight contests for the High Desert Mavericks.

2007 was Jeremy's last season, split between the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League and Burlington. He then became a coach, guiding Wausau West High School for three years. He was an assistant at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point from 2012-2015 then became head coach in 2016.
