Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Charles Poe was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 6th round of the 1990 amateur draft. He made the 1995 All-Star team in the Southern League for the Birmingham Barons. On January 22, 1996, Poe was traded with Andrew Lorraine to the Oakland A's for Danny Tartabull. Overall, he played a dozen years of minor league ball.
Poe was hitting coach for the Charleston Alley Cats in 2003 and 2004, Lansing Lugnuts from 2005 to 2007, and Auburn Doubledays in 2009. Moving to the Chicago White Sox organization, Poe was a coach for the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2011 and Great Falls Voyagers in 2012-2013. Poe got his first managerial assignment with Great Falls in 2014. He returned to coaching with the Winston-Salem Dash in 2015-2018 and Birmingham Barons in 2019. He was scheduled to return to Winston-Salem in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
