Team History[edit]

The Leones del Escogido (Escogido Lions) are a team in the Dominican League. Through 2016, they have won 16 national championships and four Caribbean Series, most recently in 2012.

Founded in 1921, the club is based out of Santo Domingo. Felipe Alou, Jesus Alou, Matty Alou, Juan Marichal, David Ortiz, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez are among the most famous players to appear on the Lions' roster over the years. Ken Oberkfell has been their manager during their most recent run of success.

Former major leaguer Moises Alou currently (since 2010) works as general manager for the Leones team, winning three championships in his first four years (2009-10, 2011-12 and 2012-13).
