Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Dave Miley signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 1980 and spent seven seasons in the minor leagues.

Miley was a coach for the GCL Reds and Tampa Tarpons in 1986 and Vermont Reds in 1987. He was a coach for the Reds in 1993 and was managing the team's AAA affiliate when he was named interim manager in 2003. His position was confirmed after a few weeks, and he led the Reds until 2005, when he was replaced by Jerry Narron with the team holding the worst record in the National League. He never managed to push the team over .500 during his three seasons at the helm. He then returned to managing in the minor leagues joining the New York Yankees organization as their AAA manager. He spent the 2006 season with the Columbus Clippers and then followed the Yankees as they moved on to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and was named International League manager of the year in 2007. He would win the award again in 2012 for leading the Yankees to the playoffs despite having no home stadium. In 2014 he was elected to the International League Hall of Fame.
