2011 Central League Most Valuable Player Award
The 2011 Central League Most Valuable Player Award went to Takuya Asao of the Chunichi Dragons, who led the 2011 Central League with 79 appearances while posting a 0.41 ERA. He also won the Gold Glove. Asao was the first reliever to win the CL MVP since Kazuhiro Sasaki in 1998; unlike Sasaki, Asao was not a full-time closer, setting up Hitoki Iwase mostly. Asao was 7-2 with 10 saves.
