The 2013 Central League Most Valuable Player Award went to Wladimir Balentien of the Yakult Swallows. The first winner from a last-place team, Balentien had set a Nippon Pro Baseball record with 60 home runs, hitting .330/.455/.779 with 94 runs, 131 RBI and 103 walks.
