Biographical Information[edit]

Markus Racík has played for the Slovakian national team.

He was Slovakia's best hitter in the 2019 European Championship U15, going 2 for 9 with a run and a three RBI. He was 0-2 with a 24.23 ERA, losing to the Netherlands and Austria. He tied for the most losses and led in hits allowed (15), runs allowed (16) and earned runs allowed (15). [1] The teenager was Slovakia's youngest player in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier but did not get into a game. [2] They made their first European Championship, the 2021 European Championship, and he did get to play in that event, leading the team with three appearances in fact. In his debut, he relieved Daniel Just with a 11-0 deficit in the 6th against Sweden. He struck out Markus Melendez and got Per Sjörs on a grounder then walked Tommy Lindell before getting Joel Johnson swinging. Juraj Bartók took over in the 7th. He was called on to protect a 4-2 lead over Ukraine, relieving Marko Vykoukal in the 7th. He got Oleksii Boiko on a grounder, allowed a Vladyslav Kosenko single, struck out Kostiantyn Chukhas, walked Denys Brechko and intentionally walked Heorhii Hvrytishvili to load the bases but escaped the jam by retiring Ihor Lukin. In the 8th, he retired Illia Velykyi and walked Roman Boiko. Kostiantyn Boiko tripled to close it to 4-3 and Oleksii Boiko laid down a squeeze bunt to tie it. He fanned Kosenko and then was relieved by Martin Lukačka. He also pitched in a crucial situation in the 15th/16th place game versus a much more established team, France. He pinch-ran for Matej Rudohradský in the 9th then came in to pitch the 10th with a 4-4 tie. Due to the Schiller Rule, he had a rough start with two runners aboard to kick off the inning. Louis Brainville bunted into a force at third, then Paolo Brossier flew out. Bastien Dagneau singled in a run but Racík struck out Martin Vissac. After Slovakia tied in the bottom of the 10th, Lukačka succeeded him. He tied for 9th in the Euros in appearances. [3] He quit baseball after 2022.
