Biographical Information[edit]

Paolo Brossier has played in the French Division I and for the French national team.

Brossier debuted in Division I for the 2016 Montpellier Barracudas, going 5 for 14 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch, three runs and three RBI. [1] Turning 17 the net year, he hit .194/.324/.355 as a bench player for Montpellier. [2] In the 2018 European Championship U18, he was 1 for 7 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and three runs. [3] That year in France, he produced at a .353/.416/.441 rate with 19 runs and 10 steals in 16 games. He had 16 putouts, 2 assists and no errors. He tied for 6th in the league in steals. [4] He was on the World Select team for the Arizona Fall Challenge. [5]

In 2019, he produced at a .290/.421/.420 rate with 20 runs in 27 games, going 9-for-13 in steals and drawing 21 walks. He tied for third in the loop with four triples and was ninth in walks (between Larry Infante and Enrique Sosa Jr. [6] He was at .313/.368/.563 for France in the 2019 European Championship U23, tying teammate Nolan Soliveres for 8th with 9 total bases. [7] He came to the US for junior college, batting .250/.352/.450 with 9 steals in 10 tries for Hillsborough Community College in 2019-2020. [8] He was not their only French player; they also had Fabian Kovacs.

The 2020 French Division I was canceled due to COVID-19. Transferring to Middle Georgia State, he hit .359/.426/.423 in 2021. In France that year, he produced at a .260/.361/.400 clip with 12 runs in 14 games. [9] In the 2021 European Championship U23, he started in center for France and hit .313/.368/.438 with four runs in five games. [10]

He made France's team for the 2021 European Championship, starting in right field with fellow youngster Léo Jiminian in center. He did not start the opener, replacing Bastien Dagneau in right during a 7-2 loss to Great Britain and striking out against Chris Messer. His first hit came the next game, against Israel's Benny Wanger. He got his other hit the next day, a three-run double off Russian national team former Twins farmhand Vadim Balan, the big blow in a 5-4 win. In the 15th/16th place game, he tied it at 2 in the second, drawing a walk from Michal Puškár and scoring on a Martin Vissac grounder. He was just 2 for 18 for the 2021 Euros, albeit with 3 walks, 3 times hit and 3 steals in 3 tries; his line at the plate was .111/.333/.167 and he had two runs and three RBI in six games. He made two errors, fielding .857. He tied Robin Roevens and Shamoy Christopher for 4th in the event in times plunked and tied for 4th in swipes (behind Ray-Patrick Didder, Roger Bernadina and Jiminian). [11]
