Biographical Information[edit]

Bastien Dagneau debuted in the French Division I in 2012 with the Rouen Huskies, France's top power. Dagneau had gone 3 for 19 with a walk, 7 strikeouts and 3 errors as France's first baseman in the 2011 European Junior Championship. He was Rouen's starting left fielder in the 2012 European Cup at age 17, going 2 for 9 with a walk, two runs and two RBI. In the Division I season, he hit .387/.483/.600 with 19 runs in 22 games, fielding .949. He was 5th in the league in average, 4th in slugging, 4th in OBP, tied for 10th in hits (29), tied for 5th in doubles (8) and tied Arthur Paturel for first with four triples. He participated in the MLB European Academy in 2012.

Dagneau slumped to .234/.357/.340 for Rouen in 2013 and .176/.211/.176 in the 2013 European Cup. He rebounded in the 2014 regular season (.289/.424/.378, 7 SB, 0 CS, .957 FLD%) but struggled in the 2014 European Cup (2 for 18, 3B, RBI). In 2015, he produced at a .340/.441/.466 clip, scored 31 runs in 33 games, fielded .981 and stole 8 bases in 9 tries. He was 10th in the loop in slugging, 5th in OBP, tied Larry Infante for 3rd in runs, tied Felix Brown for 6th in RBI (22), was 10th in walks (15) and was 6th with six times hit by pitch.

He made his French national team debut in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in March 2016. Replacing Frédéric Hanvi in center field in the opening loss to Panama, he struck out against Alberto Baldonado and popped out against Saúl González to end the game. He sat out the last two games.
