Biographical Information[edit]

Daniel Just has played in the Extraliga and for the Slovakian national team.

Just allowed eight runs (seven earned) in 5 2/3 IP for Technika Brno in the 2018 Extraliga. [1] He did not pitch in that league in 2019 then was 2-1 despite a 8.83 ERA and 985 opponent OPS in 2020. [2] In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he played third base against Hungary and went 1 for 3 and then struck out seven in four innings to beat Ireland, allowing two runs. [3] Slovakia qualified for the European Championship for the first time.

In the 2021 European Championship, the 20-year-old pitched in Slovakia's second game, versus Sweden. He relieved Michal Puškár in the 5th with one out, a 5-0 deficit and one on. He allowed three straight singles - to Per Sjörs, Tommy Lindell and Joel Johnson - to make it 8-0. After retiring Daniel Johnson on a fly, he got Thomas Paulich to ground to short but an error let in a run and kept the inning going. Niklas Melin then doubled in Paulich and Trolle Brandt singled home Melin for a 11-0 score. He recovered to whiff Peter Johannessen. Markus Racík took over in the 6th. His 27.00 ERA was not Slovakia's highest in the event as Jaroslav Kosna was higher - as were nine pitchers from other teams. Just also played the field, backing up Michal Ešmír at 3B and Martin Brunegraf at 2B. Starting at third against the Czech national team, he struck out against Radim Chroust then grounded in a run before singling off Ondřej Satoria. He started at second in the 15th/16th place game versus France. He had a single and walk facing Gédéon Coste and struck out against Esteban Prioul before Ešmír batted for him. His 900 OPS (albeit in limited time) was second on the team, behind Mario Gottschall. [4]
