Jaroslav Kosna has pitched for the Slovakian national team.
He allowed four runs in three innings in the 2009 European Junior Championship. [1] He gave up five runs (three earned) in six innings for Apollo Bratislava in the 2016 Federations Cup and got a save. [2] In that year's European Interleague, he was 1-0 with a 10.66 ERA for Bratislava. [3] He pitched nine shutout innings in the '17 Interleague. [4]
In the 2018 Federations Cup, he had a 0-1, 5.06 record, losing to Artuur Driessens and the Brasschaat Braves. [5] He was 2-1 with a 6.08 ERA in the 2018 Interleague and had a 4.38 ERA in seven outings in 2019. </ref> 2018 Interleague, 2019 Interleague </ref> He pitched four shutout innings to beat Finland in the 2021 European Championship Qualifier. [6] Slovakia won a spot in the European Championship for the first time.
Kosna pitched twice in the 2021 European Championship. In Slovakia's opener, he relieved Lukáš Žilavy against the title-bound Dutch national team with a 3-0 deficit, men on the corners and no outs. He allowed a RBI double to Dwayne Kemp, a two-run single to Junior Martina and a RBI grounder to Dashenko Ricardo to make it 7-0. John Polonius and Jiandido Tromp singled but he retired former major leaguer Roger Bernadina and Ray-Patrick Didder to end the inning. In the 4th, he got Juremi Profar on a fly but Sharlon Schoop, Kemp and Martina all had hits for a 9-0 score. He retired Ricardo and Polonius to end the inning. Jakub Ižold relieved in the 5th. His other outing, versus the Czech national team, was a rougher appearance. He took over for Martin Gieci in the 6th with a close 4-3 game. He got Matěj Menšík on a grounder, but Jakub Hajtmar laid down a bunt hit and Martin Schneider and Matěj Hejma followed with singles to score one run and another scored on an error. He walked Jakub Malík, gave up a RBI single to Petr Čech and walked Vojtěch Menšík. Simon Procháczka succeeded him and all the runners would score, giving up 6 earned runs and one out on the day. He tied Sergii Shtapura and Jonathan Kountis for 6th in the Euros in runs allowed (10), tied Liam Sabiston for 6th in earned runs (9) and had the 5th-highest ERA (Alessandro Zoufal, Per Sjörs, Omar Duenas and Shtapura were higher).
