Biographical Information[edit]

Tommy Lindell has played in the Elitserien and for the Swedish national team.

Lindell pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings for Akademin in the 2014 Elitserien and hit .184/.255/.184. [1] He played in Collegiate Baseball League Europe that year, posting a 0-2, 3.62 record and going 0 for 7 for the London Cavaliers. [2] In 2015, he hit .270/.357/.270 for Akademin and was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. [3]

Tommy debuted for Sweden in the 2015 B-Level European Championship, going 3 for 12 with a walk and a RBI in the round-robin while handling ten putouts as Sweden's regular center fielder. In the finale, he was 1 for 4 with a hit-by-pitch and a RBI while handling two putouts as Sweden prevailed. [4] In '16, he played well for the Rättvik Butchers, producing at a .333/.464/.388 clip with 21 walks and 29 runs. He was 1-1 with a 13.49 ERA and had 30 error-free chances in the outfield (29 PO, 1 A). He was 8th in the league in OBP, 5th in runs, tied Matt Merrifield for 9th in steals (8) and 3rd in walks. [5]

Lindell played for Sweden in the 2016 European Championship. He pinch-ran for Björn Johannesen in their opener. His first at-bat, he pinch-hit for Pontus Byström and struck out against Denis Leonov. He finished the event 0-for-6 with five strikeouts but scored one run and handled four putouts without an error. [6] He fell to .184/.386/.223 with 23 walks, 21 runs and 15 steals (in 17 tries) in 2017. He tied Daniel Johnson for 5th in swipes and was second in walks (two behind Joel Johnson). [7]

In '18, he rebounded to .300/.389/.390 and tied Emil Sahlin for third with four triples. He had six assists to lead the league's center fielders. [8] He hit .252/.393/.410 in 2019 and led the Elitserien with six triples, a 1.00 fielding percentage in 58 tries in center and six assists in center. [9]

Lindell batted .378/.488/.513 for the '20 Butchers in a season shortened by COVID-19. He finished 4th in average, 5th in slugging and 4th in OBP. [10]
