Biographical Information[edit]

Vladyslav Kosenko has played for the Ukrainian national team.

He was 0 for 1 with a putout in the 2012 U-15 Baseball World Cup. [1] He hit .200/.294/.200 in the 2016 European Championship U21. [2] He was one of his nation's top performers in the 2017 European Championship U23, producing at a .440/.533/.480 clip with six runs in six games, handling nine putouts. He tied Kostiantyn Chukhas for the team lead in average and was .003 behind Denys Brechko in OBP. He tied Chukhas for 7th in the event in average and tied for 2nd with 11 hits (2 behind minor leaguer Denzel Richardson). [3]

Kosenko was 1 for 7 with a walk and two runs for Biotechkomanda KNTU in the 2018 CEB Cup. [4] In the 2018 C-Level European Championship, he was 2 for 8 with 2 doubles, 4 walks, 3 runs and a steal. He tied for 3rd in doubles and tied for 4th in walks. [5] Ukraine won to move up to the 2019 B-Level European Championship. He hit .231/.333/.231 with 3 runs and 2 steals in 4 games for Bioctechkomanda in the 2019 CEB Cup, with 12 putouts and one assist. [6]

At the 2019 B-Level European Championship, he had 3 hits in a 2-1 loss to Switzerland and scored four runs versus Finland. He had a very strong tournament at .529/.600/.706 with 6 runs in 5 games, 3 steals in 3 tries and again error-free defense. He was 4th in average (between Dominick Golubiewski and Edvardas Matusevičius), 9th in slugging (between Chukhas and Michal Ešmír), tied Golubiewski for 5th in OBP, tied for 3rd in hits (9) and tied for 9th in swipes. At age 22, he had 3 steals and 2 runs in Ukraine's win over Serbia in the 2021 European Championship Qualifiers. For the event, he hit .308/.444/.308 with 4 runs, 4 walks and 7 steals (not being caught) in 4 games while handling five putouts as Ukraine won to get into the 2021 European Championship. He led his qualifier in steals, one ahead of teammates Chukhas and Serhii Tykhonets and was second in all four qualifiers, two behind Alejandro Torres-Skerrett. [8] He was only 1 for 12 with a walk in the 2021 European Championship U23, with 12 putouts. [9]

Kosenko was Ukraine's leadoff hitter and center fielder in the 2021 European Championship. He singled off Spain's Carlos Sierra to open the tourney (one of only two Ukrainian hits that day) and finished the event at .190/.308/.190 with 18 error-free putouts, once again flawless in the field. [10]
