Biographical Information[edit]

Louis Brainville has played in the French Division I and for the French national team.

Brainville debuted with the Rouen Huskies in 2018, hitting .162/.225/.243 in 2018 as a backup infielder. [1] He was 0 for 1 in the 2018 European Champions Cup. [2] In the 2018 European Junior Championship, he batted .300/.417/.350 with 8 RBI in 5 games, fielding .833 as France's main third baseman. He tied for 7th in the event in RBI (leading France). [3] In 2019, he became a starter for Rouen, which repeated as titlists. He was 1 for 12 with a walk, two runs and two RBI in the 2019 European Champions Cup. [4] In the Division I regular season, he produced at a .315/.397/.454 clip with 23 RBI in 33 games, fielding .910. He tied for 5th in the league in doubles (10) while being only 17 years old. [5]

The 2020 French season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He went to junior college in the US for 2020-2021, going 0 for 5. [6] He was at .286/.333/.500 in the 2021 European Champions Cup, homering off Julius Spann. [7] Despite his youth, he was the starting third baseman for France in the 2021 European Championship. Hitting 8th in the opener, he struck out his first at-bat, against former minor leaguer Alex Webb of Great Britain. In the 5th, though, he singled off Webb to bring in Daniel Patrice with France's first run of the tournament. In the 15th/16th place game, he was 2 for 5 with two RBI, including driving in José Paula in the 8th to tie it to avoid an upset loss to Slovakia; France won in extra innings. For the Euros, he was 5 for 24 with 3 RBI, fielding .909. He tied Paolo Brossier and Léo Jiminian for second on France in RBI, two behind long-time minor leaguer Andy Paz. [8]

Brainville batted .302/.367/.372 for the 2021 Huskies, fielding .941. He tied for 7th in the league in hits (26). [9] Rouen won the title, Brainville scoring twice in the decisive game.
