Biographical Information[edit]

Chang-min Lim has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

He was MVP of the 2006 National University Baseball Championship. The Hyundai Unicorns took him in the second round of the 2008 KBO draft, one round after Seong-hyun Kim. He allowed four runs in one inning in 2009 (the team had become the Woori Heroes by that point) and then spent two years with the South Korean Police Baseball Team to cover his military service. Returning to the KBO in 2012, he allowed two runs in four innings. He was traded in the off-season to the NC Dinos.

With NC, Lim got a chance to play regularly, going 6-6 with four saves and a 3.76 ERA in 54 games in 2013. He was second on the expansion team in games pitched, two behind Min-ho Lee. In 2014, he was 6-3 with a save and a 4.39 ERA. Becoming a closer in 2015, he was 1-5 with 31 saves and a 3.80 ERA. He was second in the loop in saves, two behind Chang-yong Lim. He made the South Korean squad for the 2015 Premier 12. He went 2-0 with one unearned run in 3 2/3 IP, allowing three hits and a walk while fanning five. He got a victory over Cuba. In the semifinal, he relieved Woo-ram Jung with a 3-0 deficit in the 8th and two outs against Japan and struck out the lone batter he faced, Motohiro Shima. That was enough to make him the winning hurler when South Korea stunned Japan with four runs in the top of the 9th. Tae-hyun Chong took over in the bottom of the inning. Then, in the finale, he relieved Kwang-hyun Kim with a 7-0 lead over Team USA in the sixth. He whiffed Elliot Soto, got Adam Frazier on a grounder, walked Matt McBride and struck out Tyler Pastornicky. Woo-chan Cha took over in the 7th as South Korea cruised to victory. He tied Zack Segovia, Shairon Martis, Chris Leroux and Yorman Bazardo for the tournament lead in wins.

Lim was 1-3 with 26 saves and a 2.57 ERA in 65 games during the 2016 KBO campaign. He tied Hee-soo Park for third in the league in saves. He lost game 1 of the 2016 Korean Series to the Doosan Bears; entering in the 11th, he allowed singles to Kyoung-min Hur and Jae-ho Kim (that Seong-wook Kim lost in the lights). The runners advanced on a Kun-woo Park fly, Lim walked Jae-won Oh intentionally and Jae-il Oh hit a sacrifice fly. It was the first Korean Series game to end on a sac fly. He was only one of three South Korean pitchers to not allow a run in a disappointing 2017 World Baseball Classic, but he had a rocky outing, nearly allowing a run. He relieved Hyun-seung Lee in the top of the 8th with a 1-1 game against Israel. He retired Nate Freiman but walked Zach Borenstein, gave a double to Ike Davis and intentionally walked Ryan Lavarnway. He got Tyler Krieger to hit into a force at home. Seung-hwan Oh relieved and got out of the jam but South Korea would lose in extra innings.
