Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Matt McBride was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 2nd round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Brent Urcheck and made his pro debut that summer. After playing behind the plate from 2006 to 2008, McBride moved to first base and the outfield in 2009.

On July 30, 2011, he was one of four young players traded to the Colorado Rockies in return for Ubaldo Jimenez; the others were Ps Drew Pomeranz, Alex White and Joe Gardner.

Matt made his major league debut with the Rockies on August 4, 2012, starting at first base against the San Francisco Giants. He went 3 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI. He struck out against Madison Bumgarner in his first major league at-bat, then singled off him for his first major league hit and affed a double off Brad Penny before the end of the game.
