Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-seung Lee pitched for the South Korean national team in the 2005 Asian Championship. He debuted as a pro with the 2006 Hyundai Unicorns, going 2-0 with a 3.79 ERA. A LOOGY, he pitched 70 games but only 40 1/3 IP, with 44 strikeouts. He allowed 3 runs in 1 1/3 IP as South Korea's worst hurler in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup but was somehow 1-0. He fell to 1-2, 7.15 in 22 2/3 IP over 45 games in 2007. Moving to the rotation in 2008, he improved to 6-8, 4.58.
Lee continued to improve the next year, going 13-10 with a 4.18 ERA as the club's ace. He was 11th in the 2009 KBO in ERA, 10th in strikeouts (120) and tied for 4th in wins. That off-season, he was traded to the Doosan Bears for Min-chul Keum and cash.
