Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-seung Lee pitched four shutout innings for the South Korean national team that won Silver in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup and remained with them for the 2005 Asian Championship. He debuted as a pro with the 2006 Hyundai Unicorns, going 2-0 with a 3.79 ERA. A LOOGY, he pitched 70 games but only 40 1/3 IP, with 44 strikeouts. He allowed 3 runs in 1 1/3 IP as South Korea's worst hurler in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup but was somehow 1-0. He fell to 1-2, 7.15 in 22 2/3 IP over 45 games in 2007. Moving to the rotation in 2008, he improved to 6-8, 4.58.
Lee continued to improve the next year, going 13-10 with a 4.18 ERA as the club's ace. He was 11th in the 2009 KBO in ERA, 10th in strikeouts (120) and tied for 4th in wins. That off-season, he was traded to the Doosan Bears for Min-chul Keum and cash.
