Biographical Information[edit]
Seong-hyun Kim played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 4 years.
Kim represented South Korea in the 2005 BFA U-18 Baseball Championship. He was drafted by the Woori Heroes in the first round of the 2008 KBO draft, and he had a 4.03 ERA in 22 appearances in his first year. He then slumped to a 6.99 ERA in 27 games in 2009, and he joined the rotation in 2010. Kim was 7-8 with a 4.90 ERA in 2010, and he also represented Korea in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup. In that event, he gave up 2 hits, 4 walks and 2 unearned runs in 7 2/3 IP but was 0-1, losing to Marco Grifantini of Italy. Only Cody Cillo and Chen-Hua Lin allowed lower averages in the event. He was 3-5 with a 5.38 ERA in 2011, then the Heroes then traded him with Shin-young Song to the LG Twins for Byung-ho Park and Soo-chang Shim. Kim went 1-4 with a 5.52 ERA for the Twins, then he was involved in a game-fixing scandal. The Twins fired him on March 6, and he was banned for life.
Overall, Kim was 13-25 with a 5.46 ERA, struck out 206 in 311 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in the KBO.
