The next summer, he played for both the DSL Mets 2 (3-1, Sv, 2.00) and DSL Mets 1 (1-2, 2.10), striking out 66 in 61 2/3 IP and allowing a .202 average. Coming to the US in 2012, he struggled with the Kingsport Mets (0-1, Sv, 9.82 ERA, 1.91 WHIP in 10 G). In 2013, he was 0-1 with a 5.52 ERA in 7 games for Kingsport and was traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut with the Bravos de Margarita (6 H, 5 BB, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 K in 4 1/3 IP).

Let go by LA, the right-hander signed with Germany's Stuttgart Reds for 2014. He was 4-0 with four saves and a 1.80 ERA. He led the southern Bundesliga-1 in saves. [3] He made the Spanish national team that summer and was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA, walking 7 in 3 1/3 IP and taking the loss against Italy. Spain still got the Bronze Medal. [4] He was 1-1 with a 5.94 ERA for the 2014-2015 Bravos. For the 2015 season, he pitched for Spain's Marlins Puerto Cruz and was 3-0 with 8 saves and a 1.93 ERA, striking out 58 and allowing only 25 hits and 9 walks in 42 innings. He made the Division de Honor leaderboard in ERA (10th), opponent average (.170, 2nd, .027 behind Iván Granados), strikeouts (10th), saves (1st by 5) and games pitched (18, 1st). The Marlins won the pennant [5]

In the winter of 2015-2016, he was 2-2 with a 3.91 ERA in 24 outings for Margarita; only Jesús Yépez pitched more games for them. In the postseason, he struggled, with 3 walks, one hit and two runs in 1 2/3 IP. [6] He pitched for Spain in the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, relieving Leslie Nacar with a 5-2 deficit, no outs and the bases loaded against Colombia. Reynaldo Rodríguez hit into a three-base error by LF Daniel Martinez and Jesús Valdez drew a walk. Pérez recovered to retire Adrián Sánchez. Mauricio Ramos grounded in a run and Steve Brown flew out to end the inning. Jorge Balboa relieved and Spain lost, 9-2, and would not return to the 2017 World Baseball Classic after having played in the prior edition. [7]

With Puerto Cruz in 2016, he was 2-0 with four saves and a 1.27 ERA. He was 4th in ERA (between former major leaguer Romulo Sánchez and Zael Honora), 3rd in opponent average (.182, behind Elián Leyva and Yorfrank Lopez) and tied Yasiel Pino for the most saves. [8] In the 2016 European Championship, he pitched 3 1/3 IP (1 H, 1 BB, 4 K) entering the finale, the first time since 1955 Spain had made it that far. In the Gold Medal game, he relieved Antonio Noguera with a 2-2 tie in the 8th. He allowed a double to Yurendell de Caster, retired Curt Smith, intentionally walked Gianison Boekhoudt and allowed a hit to Kalian Sams but Boekhoudt was caught off second on the play. He got Randolph Oduber swinging to end the inning then went 1-2-3 in the 9th, getting Nick Urbanus, Dashenko Ricardo (on a K) and Stijn van der Meer. Still at 2-2 in the bottom of the 10th, the Netherlands began with two men aboard thanks to the Schiller Rule. He hit Chris Garia to load the bases then de Caster hit the game-ending single as Spain just missed out on their second European Championship title. [9]
