Biographical Information[edit]

Mauricio Ramos has played in the minors.

Ramos was signed by Kansas City Royals scouts Rafael Miranda and Mike Toomey in August 2010. He made his debut with the DSL Royals in 2011, hitting .226/.364/.300 while fielding .911 at 3B. After hitting .252 for the Toros de Sincelejo in the winter of 2011-2012, he was named Rookie of the Year in the Colombian Winter League. He came stateside in 2012 and batted .283/.332/.393 for the AZL Royals.

In 2013, Ramos split time between the Burlington Royals (.322/.348/.432 in 42 G) and the Idaho Falls Chukars (.308/.357/.462, 14 R in 16 G). He tied for 6th in the Appalachian League with 14 doubles. He produced at a .279/.335/.422 clip for the Lexington Legends in 2014, with 27 doubles. He hit .270/.325/.365 for the 2014-2015 Toros. In 2015, he batted .265/.313/.372 for the Wilmington Blue Rocks and fielded .966 at the hot corner, a .038 improvement from the prior year. He led Carolina League third basemen in both fielding percentage and putouts (87). In the Colombian League, he tied for 3rd in doubles (8), tied for 4th in home runs (3) and tied Dexter McCall for 4th in RBI (20).

Ramos played for the Colombian national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in March 2016. He hit .308/.357/.462 as their starting third baseman, with a team-high four RBI in three games. He was third in the Panama qualifier in RBI, one behind Carlos Ruiz and Javy Guerra.
