Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Toomey was a college coach, minor league manager and scout.

Toomey was 102-82 as head coach of George Washington University from 1976-1980 [1]. He then managed the Alexandria Dukes in 1980 and 1981 and even batted for them four times the first year (going hitless), as the Dukes, who were a co-op team, were short of players and activated both Toomey and his coach Robert Harris to make up the numbers.

Toomey later served as a scout for the San Francisco Giants. He worked for the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers and New York Mets. Toomey joined the Montreal Expos in 2002 and was a National Crosschecker with the Expos and Pro Scout for the Washington Nationals through 2005. He was then Special Assistant to the General Manager for the Kansas City Royals since 2006. He signed Sugar Ray Marimon, Luis Piterson and Mauricio Ramos.
