Rafael Perez has been a minor league player and executive.
Perez pitched in the Pittsburgh Pirates chain in 1989. He was 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA in 7 games for the Princeton Pirates, fanning 29 in 25 1/3 IP and allowed one run in 3 2/3 IP for the GCL Pirates. He worked as MLB's senior manager of Latin American operations for three years then was director of international operations for the New York Mets before returning to MLB as Director of Latin Operations late in 2011. He is credited with helping sign several players for the Mets, including Octavio Acosta, Alberto Baldonado, Kevin Canelon, Luis Cessa, Nabil Crismatt, Carlos Gomez, Victor Liriano, Luis Mateo, Isaac Monrroy, Rafael Montero, John Mora, Víctor Moscote, Andrés Pérez and Yeixon Ruíz.
