Biographical Information[edit]
Yeixon Ruíz has played in the Dominican Republic, USA (reaching AA), Canada and France and for the Dominican national team.
He was signed by New York Mets scouts Rafael Perez, Ismael Cruz and Franklin Taveras in 2009. [1] He split 2010 between the DSL Mets 1 and DSL Mets 2, hitting .260/.376/.350 with 29 walks and 19 steals (caught 5 times) in 58 games, fielding .941 at 2B (his main position that year). He batted .245/.336/.288 for the 2011 DSL Mets 1, stealing 20 bases in 25 tries and scoring a team-high 44 runs in 65 games.
Coming stateside in 2012, he produced at a .250/.299/.292 clip for the Kingsport Mets, splitting time between second and third base. The next year, he returned to Kingsport and improved to .304/.357/.351 with 34 runs in 52 games, going 12-for-13 in swipes. He was 7th in the Appalachian League in average. [2] He split 2014 between the Savannah Sand Gnats (.255/.301/.376 in 67 G)and St. Lucie Mets (.333/.355/.367 in 7 G). He had six triples and sixteen steals in twenty attempts. He tied for 4th in the Mets chain in triples and tied Darrell Ceciliani and Stefan Sabol for 9th in swipes. He fielded .899 as Savannah's starting shortstop. He had a fine Dominican Winter League for the Estrellas de Oriente, going 2-for-2 with a triple and a run.
Ruíz split 2015 between St. Lucie (.246/.311/.305 in 77 G) and the Binghamton Mets (5 for 25, 7 R, BB), playing second base and center field primarily. Let go by the Mets, he joined the Dominican team for the 2015 Pan American Games. Starting in center field, he hit .292/.292/.417 with 3 runs, two RBI, a homer and a steal, fielding .909. [3] In the 2015 Premier 12, he was back with the Dominicans, backing up Anderson Féliz at 2B and Teoscar Hernández in CF. He was 1 for 9 with a triple, run and a RBI and had 4 putouts and 3 assists. His only hit was off Enrique Garcia. [4] He was 0 for 1 that winter for the Estrellas.
Signing with the independent Les Capitales de Québec for 2016, he was their main left fielder and backup shortstop (he also played RF, CF and 2B). He hit .266/.321/.326 and stole 22 bases in 27 tries. He tied Carl Thomore for 6th in the Canadian-American Association in stolen bases. He moved to the Normal CornBelters in '17. He posted a .268/.332/.370 batting line, stole 34 bases in 41 attempts and scored 73 runs in 86 games. He was 4th in the Frontier League in steals (between Keenyn Walker and Matt Hearn) and was third in runs (10 behind Josh Allen and Kyle Ruchim).
He next played for the Lions de Savigny-sur-Orge in the French Division I. In 2018, he hit .353/.443/.549 with 7 steals in 8 tries and 12 runs in 12 games. He made 9 errors, tying for third in the league. [5] The next year, he was with the Lions for a full campaign and batted .362/.417/.480 with 31 runs in 31 games and fielded .938. He tied for 7th in the circuit in runs scored, tied for 4th in hits (46), led in assists (92, 4 ahead of Larry Infante) and led in double plays (24). [6]
