Season[edit]
On June 5th, the 2013 Chicago White Sox snapped an eight-game losing streak the hard way, by beating the Seattle Mariners, 7-5, in 16 innings. The game was scoreless through 13 innings until the Sox put up five runs in the top of the 14th, only to see the Mariners tie the game, their last four runs coming on Kyle Seager's grand slam off closer Addison Reed. It was the first time in baseball history that a grand slam in extra innings only tied a game, and the first time that a team had come back from a deficit of at least five runs in the 14th inning or later. Undeterred, the Sox were back at it by scoring a pair of runs in the 16th, on RBI singles by Alejandro De Aza and Alex Rios, then Reed, who was still on the mound, struck out the side to end a game that lasted 5 hours and 42 minutes.
