From BR Bullpen

The 1993-1994 season was the thirty-third season of Cuba's national baseball system.

Serie Nacional[edit]

Villa Clara, under manager Pedro Jova, wins their second consectuive title in the 33rd Serie Nacional.

Last year's grupo winners continued to dominate, with all four teams finishing seven games or greater over the runner-up. Villa Clara and Industriales, tied for the top record in the Serie Nacional at 43 – 22, both won their semifinal series, 4 game to 2. The clubs then fought in the finals to a seventh and deciding game. The game was won by Villa Clara on a double by Ariel Pestano followed by a texas leaguer by Michel Perdomo, both off Jorge Fumero, giving the Naranjas a 4 to 3 victory.

Lázaro Junco hits 21 home runs for Matanzas, his last of ten titles, while Lourdes Gourriel Sr. of Sancti Spíritus has 73 hits in 185 at-bats for a .395 batting average, his first and only title. Both Junco and Gourriel will retire within two seasons. Metropolitanos' Enrique Díaz follows up his record 55 steal season with 53 base-thefts. Omar Linares (Pinar del Río) is walked intentionally 22 times – a record – after he had batted .446 a year earlier. Future batting champion Osmani Urrutia debuts in the Las Tunas outfield.

Orlando Hernández wins 11 games for Industriales to lead the league while Jorge Fumero sports a perfect record of 9 – 0 for the capital's club. Hernández's 19-year old half-brother Eisler Liván Hernández leads the league in complete games with 13 and strikeouts with 132 for Isla de la Juventud. Liván Hernández will defect after the following season in Mexico – causing Orlando's suspension.
