Texas leaguer
The slang term Texas leaguer was used to describe a fly ball that drops between an infielder and an outfielder for a hit. The term has largely fallen out of usage in the current era, as fielders cover much more ground than in previous eras and batters tend to zing line drives more than hit little fly balls to the shallow outfield.
