Jorge Antonio Martínez pitched 14 seasons in Cuba, going 100-70 with 31 saves and a 4.08 ERA with his best years in the 1990s. He led the 1990-1991 Serie Nacional with 21 games pitched. In the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, he allowed one run in five to beat Renat Makhnuito and the USSR; Osvaldo Duvergel closed it out. He then took Cuba's only loss from 1991-1996 when he gave up 5 runs in 5 1/3 IP in a loss to Nicaragua and tourney MVP Epifanio Pérez. His 5.06 ERA was second-highest on Cuba after Felipe Fernández; they still won Gold. He was 4-0 to lead the 1994 Selective Series in winning percentage.
