Biographical Information[edit]

Renat Makhnuito was on the USSR national team in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup. He got their first start in an Intercontinental Cup, losing the opener to Spain's Miguel Herrera, going 6 innings and allowing 10 hits, 4 walks and 7 runs (5 earned) while fanning 3; German Gulbit relieved. He went the distance in a 11-1 loss to champion Cuba, but only one of the runs was earned thanks to five Soviet errors. He struck out four. He also pitched in relief versus South Korea, with one run in 1 1/3 IP after taking over for Sacha Diundik before giving way to Vitali Romanov. His 5.93 ERA was second on the team, .25 behind Gulbit and he led the team with 13 2/3 IP and 9 K. It is conceivable this is the same person as Rinat Makhmoutov given the wide discrepancies in transliterating names from Cyrillic to English, though the birthdate is five days off.
