No one was elected in the 1943 Hall of Fame Election. The BBWAA was now voting every three years and the Old-Timers Committee did not meet in 1943. This began a period of a backlog, as Rogers Hornsby was the only player picked by the BBWAA (1942) between 1939 and 1947 and the Old-Timers Commitee did not pick anyone from 1940-1943 before opening the barn doors wide with many questionable picks. This period created stress for the Hall of Fame administrators, who were concerned about the lack of publicity.
