Biographical Information[edit]

Wuilder Rodríguez has pitched as high as AAA and for the Venezuelan national team.

He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scouts Alcides Melendez and Fernando Veracierto at age 22, on the older side for an international free agent. [1] He was 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA for the 2015 DSL Brewers and 5-4 with a save and a 4.48 ERA for the '16 Helena Brewers. He\ was third among Pioneer League relievers in opponent average\ (.203) and fewest unintentional walks per 9 innings (1.10). [2] He joined Aron McRee, Alec Hansen, Christopher Comito and Yosmer Solorzano as the league's All-Star pitchers. [3]

In 2017, he pitched for the Carolina Mudcats (0-1, 2 Sv, 1.63 in 27 G; 65 K in 60 2/3 IP; .97 WHIP), Biloxi Shuckers (17 H, 11 R in 7 2/3 IP) and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (2 R in 3 IP). That winter, he was 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA for the Tigres de Aragua. He split 2018 between Biloxi (2-1, 4.19 in 11 G) and Carolina (5.28 in 16 G). He was 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in six games for Aragua in 2018-2019. In '19, he was with Carolina (0-3, 7.64 in 4 G), the AZL Brewers Gold (3 R in 6 IP) and Rocky Mountain Vibes (0-1, Sv, 6.00 in 6 G).

Rodríguez spent the winter of 2020-2021 with the Tiburones de La Guaira (10 R in 6 IP) and he allowed 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning for them in 2021-2022. With Venezuela for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he did not allow a hit in his first three outings. His debut was against the Dominican national team, relieving Oscar Abreu in the 5th with a 5-2 lead. He struck out Ricardo Cespedes, got Carlos Jimenez on a grounder. Darlin Germán reached on catcher's interference and Seuly Matias whiffed. In the 6th, he got Kelvin Pena on a grounder, walked Edgar Figueroa (who was retired at second; caught stealing?) and got Carlos Paulino to ground out. Eduardo Paredes succeeded him. He got the win over Ernesto Glasgon and Nicaragua. His next outing was not as sharp as he allowed a two-run homer to Charles Monterrosa of El Salvador to make it 2-2 as Venezuela was nearly upset. His last contest, in the Bronze Medal Game, he gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 1 1/3 IP against the Dominicans, but Venezuela won the Bronze and a spot in the 2023 Pan American Games. Wuilder finished with a 3.23 ERA. He tied Paredes, Cesar Rosado, Miguel Rosario and Sonny Vargas for the most appearances in the event. [4]
