Biographical Information[edit]
Ernesto Glasgon has pitched for the Nicaraguan national team.
He debuted in 2010 for Costa Caribe, with a 4.50 ERA. He was 0-1 with a save and a 4.55 ERA in 2011. In '12, he improved to 8-6, 3.50. He was 11-5 with two saves and a 4.59 ERA in 2013. For 2014, he was 8-5 with a save and a 3.05 ERA. He was used more in relief in 2015 (6-4, 2 Sv, 3.86). In 2016, he returned primarily to the rotation and had a strong season at 14-3, 2.86 ERA with two saves and 171 K in 138 1/3 IP. He led the league in strikeouts. [1]
In 2017, he was 7-2 with 8 saves and a 3.47 ERA. He was 4-6 with 8 saves in 2018 but posted a 1.32 ERA. [2] He debuted for Nicaragua's national team in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, allowing 7 hits in 4 2/3 IP but two runs. [3] Like some other Nicaraguans, he was on the Toros de Herrera of Panama that won the 2019 Caribbean Series; he pitched 2/3 shutout innings. In the 2019 Pan American Games, he pitched two games for the Bronze Medalists. Against host Peru, he closed out a 10-0, 7-inning mercy rule win, relieving Gustavo Martínez with a two-hitter in progress. He retired Csaba Rojas, walked César Vásquez, fanned Roberto Ayarza, hit Ignacio Castro and then got Daniel Shimura to end the game. He also closed out a 11-1 mercy rule loss to Colombia, replacing Junior Téllez with two outs in the 6th, two on a 8-1 deficit. He served up a 3-run shot to Derwin Pomare then struck out Steve Brown. In the 7th, he retired Sneider Batista and Samir Caraballo. Diover Ávila reached on an error then Glasgon got Cristian Cano. [4]
The giant right-hander was 7-3 with 8 saves and a 3.75 ERA for Costa Caribe in 2019 to bring his career mark to 65-35, 32 Sv, 3.40 to that point. [5]
