Biographical Information[edit]

Marcos Frias pitched as high as AA and has been on the Dominican national team.

Frias signed with the Washington Nationals. He split 2007 between the DSL Nationals 1 and DSL Nationals 2, with a combined 6-3, 2.18 record and 1.05 WHIP. He was 3-4 with a 2.92 ERA for the 2008 GCL Nationals. He missed the Gulf Coast League top-ten in ERA by .05. [1] He was 9-5 with a 2.91 ERA for the 2009 Hagerstown Suns, finishing 8th in the South Atlantic League in ERA (between David Phelps and Carlos Pimentel). [2]

Moving up the ranks, he split 2010 between the Potomac Nationals (7-5, 5.69 in 20 G) and GCL Nationals (0-1, 3 R in 5 IP, presumably on a rehab stint). In 2011, he was 3-3 with two saves and a 2.63 ERA after moving to a bullpen role for Potomac. Making his lone Dominican League appearance, he pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings (but walked four) for the 2011-2012 Toros del Este. In 2013, he pitched for Potomac (2-1, 7.59 in 6 G) and the Harrisburg Senators (0-2, 2 Sv, 6.16 in 14 G). He was let go and finished the year with the independent leagues' Rockland Boulders (17 R, 15 ER in 11 G, 0-1) and New Jersey Jackals (2 R in 4 IP).

He resurfaced in 2018 in Italy, going 8-4 with a 2.54 ERA for Città di Nettuno. He was 10th in the 2018 Serie A1 in ERA, tied Carlos Misell for 4th in IP (74 1/3), 10th in strikeouts and tied for 2nd in wins (one behind Raúl Rivero). [3] He played for the Dominicans when they won Gold in the 2022 Bolivarian Games but struggled in his lone outing. Relieving former major leaguer Alfredo Figaro with a 5-1 deficit, two on and one out in the 5th against Venezuela, he got out of that inning by striking out Junnell Ledezma and retiring José Pastrano. Things unraveled in the 6th. Yhostin Chirinos singled but was out trying for two, then Beicker Mendoza walked, Fernando Kelli doubled and Juan Bidau tripled two in. Frangely Morel took over and let the inherited runner in. He tied Jesus Tona for the event's second-highest ERA, ahead of only Alex Takano. [4]
