Biographical Information[edit]
Junnell Ledezma has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by Detroit Tigers scout Jesus Mendoza in October 2012. [1] He hit .196/.301/.239 as a 3B/2B for the 2013 VSL Tigers. In 2014, he improved to .326/.385/.465 with the same team, stealing 11 bases in 12 tries and scoring 31 runs in 46 games. He played mostly first base that year, fielding .996. He was among the Venezuelan Summer League leaders in runs (tied for 8th), triples (8, 1st), average (2nd, .014 behind Jose Azocar), OBP (4th, between Anthony Cantillo and Alexander Perdomo), slugging (2nd, .010 behind Alberto Velasquez) and OPS (1st, 4 ahead of Velasquez). Moving up to the GCL Tigers in 2015, he remained steady at .329/.399/.421, while fielding .974 as their main second sacker. Had he qualified, he would have been third in average, behind MLB-bound Allen Córdoba and Ke'Bryan Hayes. [3] He slumped to .204/.339/.243 for the 2016 Connecticut Tigers. In '17, he played for Connecticut (.303/.390/.349 in 20 G) and the Lakeland Flying Tigers (6 for 38, BB, HR). He had hit .268/.353/.349 with 101 runs in 211 games as a pro. With the Leones del Caracas in 2019-2020, he was 1 for 13 with a walk, three runs and a RBI. He primarily backed up Leo Ferrini and Maikol Gonzalez at second base.
Ledezma was with Venezuela when they won Bronze in the 2022 Bolivarian Games. Hitting 5th and playing third in their opener against the Dominican national team, he got their first run of the tournament, reaching on a fielder's choice and being driven in by Beicker Mendoza. He hit .167/.250/.278 with two runs and a RBI in six games, fielding .769. His three errors tied Victor Luna for the most in the Games. [4]
