Team History[edit]
The New Jersey Jackals have played in four minor leagues. They began in 1998 and spent their inaugural season in the Northeast League. The Jackals joined the Northern League East in 1999 and stayed through the 2002 season. The following season they rejoined the Northeast League, which became the Can-Am Association in 2005. The Jackals have been quite successful on the field, capturing two Northeast League titles and two Northern League championships.
However, since the re-creation of the Can-Am Association they have had difficulties transforming success in the regular season into championships: they lost the Can-Am Association finals five consecutive years from 2011 to 2015. They had been ousted in the first round of the playoffs the two years before that (2009-2010), and again the two years after that (2016-2017). The Jackals won the very last Can-Am title in 2019.
Late in 2022, the Jackals announced that they would moved into historic Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ stating in 2023, following the completion of extensive renovations to the facility.
