Team History[edit]

The Sussex County Miners, are a professional independent league baseball team based in the Augusta, NJ section of Frankford Township in Sussex County, New Jersey. The Miners used to belong to the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball (Can-Am League) and were founded in 2014.

The 2015 season was the inaugural season for the Miners. Although, the team started off slow under original manager Steve Shirley, they finished strong under the leadership of manager Brent Metheny, who took over on an interim basis un July 3rd and permanently on July 15th [1], and his assistant coaches John Wagner the hitting coach, and Shane Loux the pitching coach. Johnny Bladel was named the Can-Am League Rookie of the Year.
