After fielding the DSL Nationals in 2005, the Washington Nationals fielded two teams in the Dominican Summer League from 2006-2008. In 2006, the DSL Nationals 1 were 30-35, 4th in the Santo Domingo West though Juan Batista did lead the loop with a 0.75 ERA. The next year, the Nationals 1 were 49-15 to win their division; they went on to beat the Yankees 1 in the DSL finals to take the pennant. Federico Tanco and Juan Jaime led the Nationals staff in the postseason. In 2008, the Nationals 1 again won the Santo Domingo West division at 55-17; they went on to beat the Giants 1 for a second straight pennant. Osvaldo Rodriguez (12-0, 1.01, 104 K) led the league in both wins and ERA. The Nats returned to one team in the DSL in 2009.
