Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Juan Jaime recorded 18 saves for the AAA Gwinnett Braves in 2014 and made his major league debut with the parent Atlanta Braves that June, pitching 16 games at the major league level with no record and an ERA of 5.84. Blessed with very good stuff, he struck out 18 batters in 12 1/3 innings. He followed that with an excellent season for the Tigres del Licey in the Dominican League in 2014-15, as he struck out 25 batters in 16 1/3 innings.

Scouted by Ismael Cruz, Jaime was one of the last players ever signed by the Montreal Expos, as he inked his first professional contract with the team on December 7, 2004. By then it had already been announced that the team would become the Washington Nationals the following season, but all transactions made until December 31st were credited to the Expos and not the Nationals. He pitched in the Nationals' system until 2009, when he went 3-1, 2.27 in 8 games for the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League. He was then felled by arms problems, which prompted Washington to give up on him. He was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010, but never pitched for one of their affiliates, as he did not play in another game until 2012, by which time he was a member of the Braves' organization. That year he pitched 42 times in relief for the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League, going 1-3, 3.16 with 18 saves. Moving up to the AA Southern League in 2013, he was 2-5, 4.07 in 35 games for the Mississippi Braves before breaking through to the major leagues the following year when he went 1-0 3.51 in 43 games for Gwinnett, picking up the 18 saves.

He pitched twice for the Braves at the major league level in 2015, being charged with a loss, and 6 times between Mississippi and Gwinnett before being included in a six-player trade on May 27th. he was sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers along with IF Alberto Callaspo and Ps Eric Stults and Ian Thomas in return for 3B Juan Uribe and P Chris Withrow.
