Biographical Information[edit]

Keiver Cordero has pitched for the Ecuadorian national team.

Debuting for Ecuador in the 2024 South American Championship, he was the starting pitcher in their opener against Chile. He began by walking Anderson Castro but James Sommerville hit into a double play and Cordero faced only two more than the minimum in his four innings of work. The only hit he allowed was Diego Beluzaran. He struck out one, Castro. He outdueled Emilio Germann-Cisterna but the win went to Jeferson Hernández in relief. It would be Ecuador's lone win, though. Against champion Argentina, he closed out the game, retiring Agustín Tissera and hitting Nicolás Alvarado, who was picked off by catcher Cristian Ochoa. He also started against Brazil but allowed six runs (five earned) in 6 1/3 IP in a loss to Joao Marostica to finish at 0-1, 3.18. Even though Ecuador did not make the playoffs, he still tied for the event lead in games pitched (with Miguel García, Hernández, Bautista Ramón, Kevin Riello and Pablo Ossandón), tied for the most starts, tied Sebastián Vega for second in IP (2/3 behind Jorge Loyola), tied Ossandón for third in his allowed (9), trailed Ossandón for second in runs allowed (five behind Javier Araya), tied Orlando León for third in earned runs, tied for 5th in walks and tied for 9th in K (with Murilo Gouvêa, Ossandón and Oscar Nakaoshi).
