Joao Marostica has pitched for the Brazilian national team.
In the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he had a 0-1, 3.15 record. He allowed only two hits in 6 1/3 IP but walked 10. He lost to Allard Helms of the Netherlands but was sharper against South Africa and Australia. He tied Seo-hyeon Kim and Justin Morales for second in walks. [1] His debut for the senior national team came in the 2024 South American Championship, facing tournament champion Argentina. He relieved Igor Kimura in the final inning, with the game scoreless but the bases loaded and no outs. He got Mannuk Cadiz to hit into a force at home but Sebastián García singled in the winning run. A wild pitch made it 2-0 but he closed out with strikeouts of Matías Robles and Lucas Nakandakare. He also pitched versus Ecuador, relieving Paulo dos Santos with a 3-2 deficit in the 5th, striking out six in three innings of work and getting the win over Keiver Cordero as his team rallied. He tied Lucas Ramón for 5th in the event with 8 K, over 4 innings of work. [2]
