Taek-yeon Kim has pitched in the KBO and for the South Korea national baseball team.
Kim represented South Korea in the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup, going 2-0 with a save and a 5.25 ERA in six games. He was lit up by the US his first outing but beat Brazil and Taiwan and saved the game against Mexico. He struck out 18 in 10 2/3 IP but walked 10. He tied Charlie Pierson for the most appearances, tied for third in wins, tied for 2nd in saves, tied for 2nd in walks and led in strikeouts.
The Hanwha Eagles selected him in the first round of the 2023 KBO draft, and he had a 7.25 ERA in 20 games in his first season. Kim stayed in the bullpen in 2024, and he notched 10 holds with a 3.76 ERA in 37 appearances. He then represented South Korea in the 2024 Premier 12.
Kim's repertoire included a fastball (peak 99.9 mph) and slider.
